Sarah

Mexican food lovers will be only to delighted to hear that a new Boojum is planned for Eyre Square in Galway city.

Boojum 3 Ltd have sought permission for a change of use of the former Spar shop at 25 Eyre Square (beside the Skeff) to a restaurant and take-away, the Connacht Tribune reports.

The new food haven will be seating for 35 people, and it’ll be open from 11.30am so you get your feast on early.

The planning application reads: “An existing Boojum restaurant is located at Spanish Parade and its opening hours are from 11.30am to 10pm, in this regard it is considered that there will be no late-night noise nuisances from the proposed restaurant.

“It is anticipated that approximately 25 new jobs, with a mix of full and part-time will be employed, however this may vary at peak times.

“It would be a welcome development for the city centre and would increase the attractiveness of Eyre Square for restaurant/food outlets. It would also help increase the pedestrian footfall on the western side of Eyre Square, and improve the streetscape by occupying a vacant building.”
