There is no bad time for a Friends reference. At least in my book.
And if you want to start the year off on the right foot (by watching Friends, obviously), then there is one specific episode that you should put on.
Remember the episode with Emma’s first birthday?
Part of season 10, and aptly named The One with the Cake, the episode shows the gang celebrating Emma’s first birthday.
Ross and Rachel convince everyone to delay their plans so they can attend the party but between Emma being asleep and the cake design going very very wrong, it’s not quite the wholesome get-together you’d imagine.
Start the episode at precisely 11:49pm tonight and you’ll begin the New Year with Chandler saying:
“Hi, Emma. It’s the year 2020. Are you still enjoying your nap?”.
Iconic…and a very valid reason for cancelling all your other plans immediately.
True Friends fans will understand.
