The gin revolution has come and gone and dark spirits is the next big thing.
I’ve often spoken about how Whiskey is going to be coming back in a big way over the next few years because all of the gin distilleries are making it right now, it just takes that little bit longer to perfect.
Pair that with rum, tequilas, bourbon and the likes and you can see why this industry will be booming very soon.
As you know, I’m a #Ginfluencer but I’m also a big fan of whiskey and I can’t wait to broaden my knowledge on the much-loved Irish spirit over the next while.
I always say you do not only need a good gin for a G&T, the tonic is as important to create that amazing, harmonious flavour.
Dark spirits is no different but what do you mix them with?
Rum and… coke?
In light of this growing trend, Coca Cola has created a set of premium mixers specifically for dark spirits.

The mixer is designed for those who want that top quality taste and varied flavours.
It comes in four flavours: Smoky, spicy, woody and herbal.
The mixers launched in Ireland this week and can be found in most cocktail bars across the county.
The flavours were crafted by some of the world’s top mixologists and most innovative bartenders so you know they’re going to be good. The bottles look super vintage, slick and they taste great.
I headed to Ibiza to check out the launch of the Coca Cola Signature Mixers and I was really impressed with the flavour. There’s endless possibilities with flavour, choosing between spirit and mixer – some definitely pair better than others for example the Spicy and tequila and the Woody with whiskey but that’s part of the fun of it as well, finding what flavours suit your palette best.
The flavours include:
SMOKY NOTES BY MAX VENNING, BAR THREE AND THREE SHEETS, LONDON
Intensely aromatic, oaky with subtle notes of tobacco; ideal for deep spiced dark rums and heady vanilla bourbons.
SPICY NOTES BY ADRIANA CHÍA AND PIPPA GUY
Initially warm, with a fiery finish, the mixer is a sophisticated and complex blend of citrusy lime, ginger, spicy jalapeño, fragrant rosemary and aromatic jasmine for Scotch whiskies and golden tequilas.
HERBAL NOTES BY ANTONIO NEVARES
As a gin lover, I loved this one paired with whiskey!
This mix is delightfully floral, crisp and tart; balancing refreshing notes of dill leaves, citrus and lemongrass with the earthy notes of dill seed and tagetes.
WOODY NOTES BY ALEX LAWRENCE
Crafted from a subtle blend of earthy patchouli, citrusy yuzu and aromatic basil. Pair with golden and spiced rums and bourbons.
If you’re interested in spirits and love heading out to try something new in your local, this is deffo worth getting excited about.
I predict massive things for these mixers.
