Flying To The USA Will Get A Lot More Stressful From Today Onward

Sarah

New security measures have been introduced on all American-bound flights from today onward, with concerns that it will cause flight delays and longer processing times for passengers.

Reuters reports that airlines will now conduct short interviews with passengers, either at check in or at the boarding gate, in an attempt to respond to the threat of hidden explosives.

It’s estimated that 325,000 airline passengers on about 2,100 commercial flights arriving daily in the United States, on 180 airlines from 280 airports in 105 countries will be affected.

Airlines contacted by Reuters have said that they are encouraging people to arrive to the airport early in case of any delays. “We are asking customers to show up at the airport early … It’s just inconvenient for the passengers,” said CEO of Korean Airlines.

It’s not yet known how many passengers will be interviewed, and what the selection process will be, but considering that delays are already commonplace in security screenings for the US, it’s expected that delays could be substantial.

Give yourself plenty of time if flying to the USA.
