LÉ Eithne, the Irish naval vessel, has rescued 183 people from the Mediterranean sea early this morning.
BreakingNews.ie reports that at 6am this the ship rescued 113 migrants from an inflatable boat which was drifting in the water about 40km from the coast of Libya.
70 more people were rescued shortly afterwards from another boat in distress.
that was found drifting about 40 kilometres off the Libyan coast.
The migrants on board are receiving food, water and medical treatment where needed.
