An ice warning has also been issued to four counties.
We don’t need to tell any of you just how cold it has been getting lately, and as well all know, it doesn’t truly get to its coldest point until well into January, so we have that to look forward to.
Met Eireann’s forecast for the week tells us to expect as much, with snow and/or ice and/or hail expected for the next four days in a row in parts of Ireland.
Temperatures will drop tonight to as low as -3 in places, with Leinster and east Munster expected to get the brunt of the “wintry showers of rain, hail, sleet or snow”.
Pretty much the same is expected every night this week, with snow also mentioned in the forecast for Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
Friday looks like it will be drier, but there will be “a widespread severe frost” that night. So… yeah… stay warm, folks!
In related news, Met Eireann revealed the temperatures around the country for Sunday night, with Tipperary recording the lowest, at below -4.

Meanwhile, a status yellow ice warning has been issued to four counties by the Met UK office.
The warning is in place for Antrim, Armagh, Down, and Derry, and will be active until 10am on Tuesday morning, with the Met UK saying that “Icy stretches likely to cause difficult travel conditions.”
