Irish Supermarkets Issue Urgent Recall For These Two Products Over Salmonella Fears

Kiara Keane

Supermarkets around Ireland have asked customers to dispose of two products immediately over serious concerns of salmonella contamination.

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland issued an urgent recall notice for Caffreys Confectionery Halloween Bloody Mallows ‘due to a potential risk of Salmonella contamination of a milk ingredient’.

They wrote, ‘Consumers are advised to dispose of the implicated Bloody Mallows. No other products are affected by this recall.’

As well as that, a batch of The Deli Green Pesto which comes in a 140g pack and has been on sale in Aldi was also recalled over salmonella fears.

The only affected batch has a best before date of November 23, 2019.

The FSAI said, ‘Aldi is recalling the above batch of its The Deli Green Pesto due to the detection of salmonella.

‘Point-of-sale recall notices will be displayed in Aldi stores.’
