Galway hotel school named amongst top 10 in the world

We always knew Galway was great and now the world knows it too as the GMIT Hotel School has been named amongst the top 10 hospitality institutes in the whole world. No easy feat, let me tell you.

Named amongst the top 10 by Education.com, the GMIT Hotel School narrowly missed out on a top-three spot, coming in at number four on the list. However, with an international reputation for offering industry-relevant courses, particularly within the tourism and hospitality sector, the award doesn’t come as much of a surprise… still, it’s always nice to be recognised.

The first Higher Education Institute in Ireland to offer a degree in Hotel Management, the course has been running since the late ’70s and has grown year on year to cover a range of other courses – including Culinary Arts and Gastronomy, International Hotel Management, Heritage Studies, International Tourism Management and Event Management and Public Relations.

President of GMIT, Dr Orla Flynn, welcomed the news, congratulating the entire team on a job well done.

“I want to congratulate the entire team at the Galway International Hotel School on achieving this recognition. The school has always had an international focus with a global alumni network supporting strategic developments and accredited work placements.”

Nowhere does it quite like Galway does.
