These Are Officially The Top 10 Filming Locations In Ireland

Think of famous movie locations and chances are an image of LA or New York will pop up in your head. Well get rid of that mental pic you traitor and think instead of the fact that more than a few famous films have been shot in Ireland. 

Research by financial services website GoCompare based on IMD filming locations found that Ireland is no.17 when it comes to most-filmed countries, with 2,527 movies and TV shows shot here.

As for where exactly the magic happens? These are the top 10 most-filmed locations across the country.

1. Kilmainham Gaol

Famous films: The Italian Job, The Escapist and The Whistle Blower.

2. Dublin Castle

Famous films: Northanger Abbey, Barry Lyndon and Penny Dreadful.

3. Kilruddery House, Wicklow

Famous films: P.S. I Love You, The Tudors and Angela’s Ashes.
