RTÉ’s New Chat Show Begins Tonight And It Could Be Better Than The Late Late Show

Darragh Berry

Looking outside you can tell that the shit, rainy, normal Irish weather is creeping back in and when that happens, it’s time to turn to our good friend television again.

There’s no Ryan Tubridy or Graham Norton to keep us entertained tonight but RTÉ’s new chat show will give The Late Late a run for its money.

RTÉ have announced a new interview series called Brendan O’Connor’s Time Out.

The three-part series was filmed in Ireland and the UK and features in-depth, one-to-one interviews with high profile people who have lived full lives, but more importantly have a story to tell.

It’s being described as a “no audience, no gimmicks, bells or whistles” kind of show which sees Brendan and his guest chatting about the things that really matter to them.

Turning points, life defining events, once in a lifetime experiences, that sort of thing.

For this series, Brendan’s interviewees will be Majella O’Donnell (which is the first episode), Michael Harding and, at the legendary Abbey Road Studios in London, Chic frontman Nile Rodgers.

O’Connor said about the show that:

“I’m more excited about this show than anything I’ve done before… Usually when you talk to people they tell you how they see themselves but I often wonder how true that is – is it just the story they’ve decided to tell people? So, the guests pick the five most important people or things that happened in their lives, the moments of truth as it were.”

Brendan O’Connor’s Time Out begins at 9.35pm tonight August 17th
