Garth Brooks was named Entertainer of the Year at the Country Music Association (CMA) Awards last night in Nashville, Tennessee.

The 54-year-old singer beat off stiff competition from Carrie Underwood, Chris Stapleton, Keith Urban and last year’s winner Luke Bryan, to take the coveted prize at the annual ceremony, which was presented by Ms. Taylor Swift.

Upon receiving the prize, he told the audience:

Thank you for a wonderful run. We are so damn lucky to be part of this thing called country music.

Dolly Parton also won big at the awards, scooping the Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award.

The ‘9 to 5’ hitmaker afterwards said: “I would have cried, but I didn’t want to mess up my eyelashes.”

What a QUEEN.
