Niall Horan has once again proven himself to be the nation’s sweetheart after an appearance on the Late Late Show last night.
A seemingly last-minute addition to the lineup, perhaps they just wanted to save the best announcement until last, Niall Horan was named for an appearance on last night’s Late Late Show – joining the likes of Normal People star Paul Mescal, GAA players and experts Evanne Ní Chuilinn, Henry Sheflin, Aidan O’Shea and Kieran Donaghy.
Speaking to Ryan via video call, Niallers chatted about his charity work for ALONE. Saying that he doesn’t “particularly need or want any plaudits” for stepping up to the plate, Niall has been using his time in isolation to raise money for the more vulnerable members of our society.
“Luckily enough I’m in a position that I can help out that kind of way, and I feel like people in my sort of position should be stepping up in a time like this.”
Revealing that he has also been in contact with another of the night’s guests, Niall filled Ryan in on what his chats with An Taoiseach Leo Varadkar usually entail:
“I felt like instead of just throwing and hoping it sticks to the wall, maybe have a chat with someone who knows where it should be going. I ended up through friends and contacts, getting in touch with our Taoiseach Mr Varadkar and he was kinda pointing me in the direction of a few different places.”
It seems that even Ryan was impressed with Niall’s proactivity, saying that he has “captured the spirit of where this country has grown together in the last couple of weeks”. The former One Direction star also discussed his involvement in the government wellness campaign In This Together – which saw the likes of Hozier, U2, Imelda May, Dermot Kennedy and Westlife team up to encourage people to “unite by staying apart“.
Audiences across Ireland have been praising Niall for his down to earth nature, hailing him “a genuinely wonderful fella” and “a credit to Ireland”.
