Paul Mescal reading children’s bedtime stories is the wholesome content the world needs

Sarah Finnan

Paul Mescal

With filming for Normal People done and dusted, Paul Mescal has had to find other ways to keep busy. Jogging around London and drinking cans of pink gin in the park sufficed for a while but it probably wasn’t quite the creative outlet the Kildare man had in mind and so he’s since turned to reading children’s bedtime stories instead.

Choosing to read Elmer and Super El by David McKee, Paul gave the reading gusto, making sure to use different voices for different characters and everything.

Normal People may have been the star’s first proper TV role but it’s clear that he’s honed his craft to perfection… and while reading children’s bedtime stories may be new to the actor, it’s arguably not that dissimilar to auditioning for a role and having to read from a script for the first time.

Sharing the clip on social media, Paul wrote:

“As the world grapples with the coronavirus pandemic, children’s lives are being turned upside down.

By donating to Save with Stories, you can support the most vulnerable families in the UK and around the world by helping to provide early learning packs, supermarket vouchers, essential household items and virus protection.”
