Other Voices

Featuring a wide range of Irish performers, some of this season’s highlights include the likes of Hozier, Fontaines D.C. and Dublin band Pillow Queens.

Ireland’s longest-running music TV show, Other Voices will return to RTÉ Two early next month. Presented by May Kay and Huw Stephens, the series is now in its 19th season.

Announcing some of the big names set to grace the stage throughout this season’s show, organisers have pulled out all the stops managing to get performers such as Hozier, the Grammy-nominated Fontaines D.C, Elbow, Pillow Queens, Rhiannon Giddens and Dublin-based singer CMAT on board.

Coming to audiences from a range of new locations – including Cardiff and Ballina – the season will run for 10 weeks with Hozier kicking things off on March 4th. Treating viewers to an intimate, stripped-back performance, episode one will also see Dublin’s Pillow Queens take to the stage followed by an Other Voices debut from newcomer Niamh Regan.

Speaking ahead of the season premiere next month, Other Voices founder Philip King commented:

“The Other Voices Series coming to you on television this year features a range of truly remarkable performances from Irish artists who opened their hearts and raised their voices in a powerful and emotional musical response to the events of what has been one of the most complex and difficult years in Ireland’s history.”

And though the series could never replace the buzz of an in-person performance, it will help tide us over until live shows finally make their long-awaited return.
