A four-day food and cider festival is coming to Armagh next month

Aptly named The Orchard County, you might say that Armagh is the perfect destination for a cider festival.

Bet your ears perked up at the mention of that one, didn’t they? Don’t blame ya… this one’s a good ‘un. Fast becoming one of Northern Ireland’s most popular gastronomical destinations, the food and cider festival will make a welcome return to Armagh next month.

Taking place right in the heart of the city, it’s a festival all about apples. Surprise, surprise eh. Now in its sixth year, the annual event is a must-hit for foodies particularly those with a penchant for cider as well.

Putting the emphasis firmly on local produce (of both the edible and drinkable variety), this year’s event is brimming with fine foods, foraged lunches, cider tasting, tours and talks amongst other things.

A quick scan of the website shows that there are over 20 different pre-bookable experiences to choose from ranging from afternoon tea at Blackwell House to hedgerow foraging, eel cooking/tasting (eels from Lough Neagh are a local delicacy.. who knew?!) and various live masterclasses – cakes and bakes or sushi, for example.

Running September 24-27, you can check out the full calendar of events here.
