This Irish Restaurant Has Been Announced The Bord Bia ‘Just Ask’ Restaurant of the Year 2017

1826 Adare has just been awarded the Bord Bia Just Ask Restaurant of the Year 2017, beating off tough competition from many top establishments across the country.

Nestled in the picturesque village of Adare in Co Limerick, 1826 Adare is a charming cottage restaurant run by husband and wife team Wade and Elaine Murphy, offering fresh, seasonal and local produce which forms the foundation of chef Wade’s food philosophy.

Menus are changed on a monthly basis and blackboard specials such as whole sole, braised beef and slow-cooked pork belly change daily, providing a unique offering to regular guests.

Commenting on the restaurant’s sourcing policy, Wade Murphy said:

As a Euro-Toques chef, provenance and sourcing are hugely important to what we do. We include a statement on our menu confirming that all our beef, lamb, pork and chicken is born, reared and slaughtered in Ireland.  Our valued suppliers are detailed on our menus and many of them are name checked on dishes too.

Garrett’s Butchers of Limerick supply us with our dry-aged beef and occasionally free range pork, our lamb is Kerry Hill Lamb, while pasture reared chicken comes from The Friendly Farmer in Athenry and our Skeaghanore duck comes from west Cork.  Fresh fish and seafood are sourced from CS Fish in Doonbeg, Co. Clare and we source our honey and eggs from Sean Duggan in Croom.

Our vegetarian options include produce from Bally Salad, The Little Green Company and Clancy Lewis, all based in Limerick and we also source our mushrooms from famed Ballyhoura Mountain Mushrooms of Co. Cork. We are delighted to be acknowledged for our work with local suppliers, as it’s such a vital part of delivering a first class dining experience for our guests.
