RTÉ2 introduced it’s new Monday night offering ‘Can’t Cope, Won’t Cope’ last night to much anticipation.
The series was written by Stefanie Preissner and stars Seána Kerslake and Nika McGuigan as two Cork girls attempting to cope (or not, as the case may be) with life after moving to Dublin.
The opening double-header dealt with pressing issues such as dogging, public urination and vomiting while Copper Face Jack’s featured a LOT.
For some it delivered on its promise, while for others it was just another failed attempt from those at Montrose to tickle the nation’s funny bone.
Here’s what people thought:
Some saw it as an accurate portrayal of life as a twenty-something in our nation’s capital:
Really enjoying #cantcopewontcope on @RTE2 . It’s fairly fairly accurate from my experience.

A certain Cork colloquialism was picked up on, like…
The #CantCopeWontCope drinking game: every time a character says “Like,” you drink. #CorkLike
— Emer Nic Dhiarmada (@EmieMack) September 19, 2016
I think “LIKE” could be trending #cantcopewontcope

#cantcopewontcope as a Corkonian in Dublin , there’s a serious over use of the word LIKE

There were parents who couldn’t cope themselves…
If my mam is watching this I swear this is not what living in Dublin is like ???? #cantcopewontcope @RTE2

My parents both gave up in unison at the puking in the Penneys hood & both abruptly retired to bed #cantcopewontcope

All in all, the general consensus was that people were happy with what they saw…
Loved #cantcopewontcope. Take a bow @SeanaKerslake! Great stuff.

As a country girl living in the big smoke I’ve laughed so much at #cantcopewontcope. Ashamed that I recognise the bathroom in Coppers though

While there were some who were harder to impress…
I’ve given this shite 15 minutes of my life, what a load of bollocks #cantcopewontcope
— Donal Gunn (@lanodnnug) September 19, 2016
Ok no. Pissing in a field, as if. Maybe when you’re 16 knacker drinking. I can’t. It had such potential ???? #cantcopewontcope

So, let’s see how episode three goes next week. Until then let’s hope any geographical inaccuracies are corrected…
#cantcopewontcope Did they really just get a taxi from Camden st to coppers. Ah lads, there’s a lane!
