It’s been an absolutely horrendous week on the weather front and it doesn’t look like things are going to get much better for the weekend.
Our recommendation is to light a fire, lock the door and embark on the ultimate Netflix marathon.
While there are plenty of great films on there, a good series is the way to go for a lengthy binge as each episode will autoplay and you won’t have to get off the couch for HOURS.
Sold? Here are some of our favourites…
The People V O.J. Simpson
You probably know how it ends but it doesn’t make this drama any less gripping. Cuba Gooding Jnr is great in the lead role but unfortunately we just can’t see David Schwimmer (who plays Robert Kardashian) as anyone other than Ross Gellar. Still, it’s worth a look.
Wolf Hall
If you like your period dramas, this series based on the books of Hilary Mantel is a great choice. It won Best Miniseries at The Emmys, which is always a good sign, and has been praised for its historical accuracy.
Backstrom
One for those days when you want to switch your brain off completely and have a good laugh, Backstrom tells the tale of a “smart but obnoxious cop who heads up Portland’s Special Crimes Unit”. If you liked Brooklyn Nine Nine or Monk, you’ll like this one.
Ultimate Beastmaster
This addictive series see elite athletes from six countries pitted against each other in an intensive obstacle course. Once you get over the shame of watching it while eating a whole tube of Pringles, it’s brilliant.
Lemony Snicket’s A Series Of Unfortunate Events
Neil Patrick Harris plays Count Olaf (in one of his best performances) in this Netflix Originals series, which is based on the first four books of the series. It’s delightfully odd but don’t watch if you don’t like sad endings.
How To Get Away With Murder
If you haven’t gotten around to watching this yet, it’s perfect fodder for a weekend couchfest. Oscar winner Viola Davis is absolutely brilliant (as always) and there’s plenty of twists and turns to keep you interested.
Designated Survivor
Kiefer Sutherland is great in this political drama, which focuses on a low-level cabinet member who finds himself named US President in the wake of a terrorist attack. Think 24 meets House of Cards.
