The memoir of the Queen of Ireland, AKA Panti Bliss, is being adapted into a TV comedy-drama.
The rights to Rory O’Neill’s 2014 book Panti: Woman In The Making have been acquired by New York and London-based production company Playground Entertainment.
It’s planned that the show will star Rory as his alter-ego Panti and will be set in his Dublin bar and nightclub Pantibar.
Panti played a hugely influential role in garnering support for the Marraige Equality Bill in 2015 which was ultimately passed with 62% of the Irish electorate.

Speaking to Variety Magazine, Playground CEO Colin Callender said:
“Rory is a genuinely unique voice, and we’re excited to be working with his alter-ego Panti Bliss on a series that will bring her provocative perspective on contemporary culture and the unspoken challenges that face the gay community to a mainstream television audience.”
