Loved all over the world, it’s clear that Irish fans are just as fond of Dermot Kennedy as his international fans – helping the singer to get his album to number one in the charts for longer than any other Irish album so far this millennium.
Dermot Kennedy is celebrating the news that his debut album, Without Fear, has now spent more time at number one on the charts than any other Irish debut album in the past 1,000 years. Quite an achievement for the Irish singer.
The fastest-selling album in Ireland in 2019, it helped to solidify Kenney’s status as a force to be reckoned with. Sharing his excitement at the news on Twitter, the singer wrote:
“Without Fear is back at #1 in Ireland and has now achieved more weeks at #1 this millennium than any other Irish debut album!! Thank you so so much for the love you’ve shown to this project.”

Saying that he put his “whole heart” into the album, Kennedy added that seeing it being recognised truly means everything to him.
The Dubliner has also recently released new music in the form of his single Giants. The first new release since his album last year, Dermo described the song as “an encouragement to be brave”. Read more on the inspiration behind the tune here.
