7 Hilarious Podcasts That’ll Brighten Up Your Daily Commute

seank

Lord knows it’s hard to be cheerful first thing in the morning on a weekday, when you have to peel yourself out of bed, drag on your clothes and trudge all the way to work.

Next week, however, that’s all gonna change.

We’re recommending a bunch of side-splitting podcasts for you to listen to on your way to the office so that you can kick off your day in high spirits for once.

Aren’t we lovely?

1. The Alison Spittle Show

Stand up comedian Alison Spittle has turned talk show host for this podcast recorded live from The Workman’s in Dublin.

Here she has a nice little chat with Ireland’s best and brightest — former guests include David O’Doherty, Sinéad Burke and Louise McSharry — with hilarity inevitably ensuing.

2. GUYS WE F**KED

GUYS WE F**KED: THE ANTI SLUT-SHAMING PODCAST is all about taking the stigma away from women openly discussing sex.

In each episode, hosts Corinne Fisher and Krystyna Hutchinson interview a guy they slept with. It makes for an enlightening and damn funny listen.

3. How Did This Get Made?

We’ve all seen movies that were so bad, so improbably awful, that it boggled our minds that it managed to get greenlit in the first place.

For this podcast, listeners tell the hosts about one such atrocious movie that they’ve seen and our film buff comedians watch it themselves before discussing it in length on the show.

4. IT GALZ

If you’re looking for something that bills itself as “a podcast all about what it’s like being a #fineassfeminist in the 21st century”, then look no further.

IT GALZ takes a refreshing look at the modern female experience and all that it entails, with the occasion special guest making an appearance.

5. My Dad Wrote A Porno

When Jamie Morton discovered his father wrote an erotic novel, he didn’t do what any sane person would do and deeply suppress the memory, oh no.

Instead, Morton turned that filthy piece of literature into a comedy podcast, where a new chapter is read aloud every week with the help of his friends, James Cooper and Alice Levine.

6. The Mysterious Secrets Of Uncle Bertie’s Botanarium

If you’re a fan of The Flight Of The Conchords, you’ll love this similarly fantastical comedy that also features Jemaine Clement.

The podcast is a comedic radio play, following the adventures of Lord Joseph Banks (Clement) who sets sail to the other side of the world to find a plant that’s supposedly the root of all pleasure.
