Walford’s Ian Beale – businessman, property tycoon and, apparently, a bloody good politician.
Actor Adam Woodyatt has been familiar to soap fans as Eastenders‘ twerpy café owner since appearing in the first episode back in 1985. The character has gone one to be married five times, father three children and, as Ray D’Arcy pointed out last night, have his head flushed down a toilet by Phil Mitchell.
Appearing on Ray’s RTÉ chat show, Adam discussed a number of issues including the health of his friend and co-star Barbara Windsor as well as his new-found love of making gin. It was when the conversation turned to Brexit though, that the star really came into his own.
Appearing visibly exasperated when the topic was brought up, Adam went on to teach Theresa May et al a thing or two about the current situation with Northern Ireland by saying “Before we even had the vote I said ‘what are we gonna do about Ireland?'”.
He then added “Now, if I can work that out, and I’m not a politician, why couldn’t they?”
