‘InstaTerror’ is a creepy Irish Halloween event taking place on Instagram

Brian Dillon

There are absolutely loads of fun and scary events taking place as part of the Bram Stoker Festival 2019. But with this one, you don’t even have to leave your couch to attend.

Because it all takes place on Instagram.

InstaTerror is a first for Ireland.

Set up by seasoned horror professional Peter Dunne, InstaTerror allows you to see an eerily creepy show through your phone screen over the course of the Bram Stoker Festival.

Peter founded his spooky production company MORB in 2012 and even recently won a New York Radio Award for his horror drama podcast Petrified.

So, here’s how InstaTerror works.

The story follows three young friends who accidentally release an evil spirit who then begins haunting them. Through their Instagram accounts, they document their terrifying experiences with the ghost, with the story coming to a terrifying conclusion as the Bram Stoker Festival comes to an end.

First, you’ll have to follow these three Instagram accounts.

Speaking about his fascinating online creation, Peter said, ” Before coming up with the idea of InstaTerror I actually didn’t have an Instagram account.

“Friends kept telling me to open one but the thoughts of having to post up pictures of my life seemed exhausting.

“I thought to myself ‘What if a person was having a bad day – would they put up pictures of that?’ And then, as I’m a bit of a horror nerd, I thought – ‘What if they were haunted?’ And something clicked.”

He added, “When people follow the accounts, they will see the evolution of a haunting. In the early posts, it starts out small, with little creepy moments, but by the end of the week, it will have transformed into full-blown horror.”
