PIC: This Irish Girl Is Doing Her Whole College ‘Paper Proposal’ On A Rubberbandits Song

This works so well and is probably going to turn out one million times better than any of the waffle you used to try and discuss an English poem.

An Irish girl has decided to use Rubberbandits song ‘Up Da Ra’ as a paper proposal for her Global Media Culture class.

Her research question is how does the song explore concepts of national and cultural identity within the postcolonial nation.

For those of you who don’t know: The song basically makes fun at people who go around chanting, “Oh ah, up the ra” but know very little about what actually happened in the past and who support football teams in England and such.

Lines from the song include things like: “It all started with the Great Potato Famine of 1916”, and “They stole the seven counties in Ulster”.
