Since The Jeremy Kyle Show first aired on ITV in 2005, it’s had its fair share of celebrity guests. Kerry Katona, Danniella Westbrook and Jeremy McConnell, to name a few, have all enlisted the help of Jezza in a bid to sort out their volatile personal lives at one point or another.
None of the aforementioned celebs though have quite the level of international recognition held by former footballer Jermaine Pennant. The ex-Liverpool star, who appeared in the most recent series of Celebrity Big Brother, appeared this morning to answer claims of infidelity by his wife Alice Goodwin.
Pennant, who also enjoyed a brief spell playing in Spain, was seen flirting with fellow housemate Chloe Ayling on Big Brother and also refused to reveal that he was married while in the house.
When asked to take a lie detector test by Jeremy Kyle this morning, Pennant refused, stating that he would only do so “behind closed doors.”
People on Twitter went into a frenzy when they heard that Pennant was on the show, with some pointing out his apparent fall from grace since playing in the Champions League Final in 2007, a showpiece seen by many as the pinnacle of football.

Throughout his football career, Pennant was never far from trouble. He famously played for Birmingham City while wearing an electronic tag after being caught drink-driving and has faced numerous claims of cheating on partners in the past.
