If you regularly watch television on your laptop, it looks like you could be about to get hit with a new charge.
Proposals are being put forward to extend the current television license to include all laptops with screens over 11inches.
Many had previously avoided paying the €160 annual fee by streaming shows online, rather than having a television in their home.
According to Irish Independent, Communications Minister Denis Naughten is now looking at changing the scope of the license fee to account for the growing popularity of streaming services and ‘on demand’ TV.
Under the new measures, which would bring in €5m a year, any desktop computer, laptop or large tablet would require a license.
