Parenthood can be a wonderful blessing but from the outside looking in it might not be easy to spot the signs of strain.
Louis Theroux is the master at getting to the centre of a number of issues and tonight the documentary maker tackles the difficult subject of mental illness brought on by the strains of motherhood.
Everything from anxiety to depression to psychosis is covered as Louis visits two specialist psychiatric units in the UK which allow mothers experiencing serious mental illness to live alongside their babies.
As always with Mr. Theroux, it should be both fascinating and educational and may even help you or someone you know who can relate. Louis Theroux: Mothers On The Edge airs tonight on BBC 2 at 9pm.
'What I saw in the mother and baby units was an extreme version of something that many new parents grapple with,’ says @louistheroux.
