Last night’s RTÉ Prime Time presidential debate had people talking for a lot of reasons.
With the election just days away, the six hopefuls discussed issues including taxes, the traveller community and Michael D Higgins’ expenses.
The debate moderator David McCullagh also received praise for keeping things ticking over despite everyone’s bickering.
But the standout moment for a lot of people was Miggeldy and Liadh Ní Riada arguing entirely as Gaeilge, while the other candidates looked on oblivious to what they were saying.
My favourite part of the #RTEPT #Aras18 debate so far was when Michael D and Liadh Ní Riada went off at each other as gaeilge and none of the other candidates had a clue what they were talking about.

Best bit of that was the rírá and the ruaille buaille and the trioblóid as Gaeilge between Higgins and Ní Riada.

Most people were delighted to see two presidential hopefuls unexpectedly debating entirely in Irish, pointing out that speaking the language is an important factor in being the president of Ireland.
