Sligo theatre looking to get rid of old seats… so home cinema anyone?

Building a home cinema? Well, then you’re going to need appropriate seating.

Going to the pictures used to be quite the outing. Putting on real clothes, leaving the house, getting to socialise with other people. The luxury of it all! Don’t even get me started on the snacks – cinema popcorn is in a league of its own and I won’t hear otherwise.

Maybe I’m romanticising the whole thing… don’t think so though.

Sadly cinema visits are a complete no go these days and with no solid indication as to when they’ll return, it looks like we’ll have to content ourselves with the home entertainment centre for now.

For most, that setup comprises some sort of a screen (TV, laptop, tablet phone… you get the idea) and somewhere comfortable to rest your bones. Perhaps a bowl of microwave popcorn if you’re lucky.

Well, what if I told you that you could recreate the real cinema experience at home courtesy of Hawk’s Well Theatre?

Taking to social media to encourage people to ‘take a seat’, the theatre revealed that they’re soon to undergo major renovations and therefore… all seats must go so to speak.

“Spread the word! Due to our upcoming renovation works we are replacing our auditorium seats. If you re interested in our old stall seats please email [email protected] for more information.”

Any takers? You know what to do.
