The Entrance To This Bar Is An Iconic Coke Vending Machine

This bar in the heart of Shanghai isn’t the easiest place to find if you don’t know what you are looking for because the entrance is hidden behind a classic Coca Cola bottle vending machine. Designed by Alberto Caiola, this speakeasy is all about the contrasting styles of the different areas. I love the idea of opening a hidden door into a whole new world and would love to see more secret entrances for bars around the world.

Here is what Alberto had to say about the design…

At first glance, the traditional diner setting looks immediately familiar to passersby, but a number of more contemporary details call for a second look: the smooth, finished countertops in bright shades, neon lighting strips, and polished minimalism of the furnishings set against unfinished walls, rough concrete walls and floors, plus a dramatic, asymmetrical drop ceiling, create an unconventional scene that encourages curiosity in the space. the centerpiece of the room is a vintage coca-cola vending machine, which is split vertically to swing open and reveal the entrance to ‘flask’.
