Fifteen movies to keep you entertained this weekend

If that October chill is just too much for you, curl up on the sofa with these movies this weekend. There’s everything from musicals to comedies to action, so something for any kind of movie buff.

SATURDAY

Now You See Me 2 – E4 – 6:30pm

The sequel to Now You See Me follows The Four Horseman as they attempt to pull off another heist in China. Jesse Eisenberg, Mark Ruffalo, Dave Franco, and Daniel Radcliffe star.

Despicable Me 3 – ITV2 – 6:15pm

Steve Carell is back as Gru in the third installment of the franchise. Gru meets his long lost twin brother Dru after getting fired from the Anti-Villain League.

The Secret Life Of Pets – RTÉ ONE – 6:35pm

This animated film takes an inside look into the lives of pets when their owners leave the house. Max is distressed when his owner brings home a new dog Duke and seeks ways to get rid of him.

Pitch Perfect 2 – ITV2 – 8pm

The Barden Bellas are back and they’re trying to regain their reputation as an acapella group while competing in an international contest.

War of the Worlds – FilmFour – 9pm

Divorced father of two played by Tom Cruise finds himself and his children in mortal danger when there’s an alien invasion on earth.

Rocketman – Channel 4 – 9pm

This musical slash biography focuses on musician Elton John as he rose to fame. You’ll be singing along in no time, you won’t be able to help yourself!

There’s Something About Mary – Comedy Central – 9pm

Cameron Diaz, Matt Dillon and Ben Stiller star in this 1998 comedy. Ted (Stiller) hires a private investigator (Dillon) to track down his high school crush (Diaz) but finds there’s competition for her affections.

Mission Impossible Rogue Nation – RTÉ 2 – 9:45pm

For all the action lovers, this one is for you. Ethan (Tom Cruise) is on the run, trying to prove that the Syndicate is real while fighting for his life.

SUNDAY

Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children – RTÉ 2 – 6:15pm

Jake, played by Asa Butterfield, comes across a house with supernatural children inside, run by Miss Peregrine. He soon gets wrapped up in a whole new world, and must help protect the home from outside forces.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 – E4 – 6:40pm

Jennifer Lawrence is back as Katniss Everdeen as she joins the resistance after the Quarter Quell Hunger Games and tries to save Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) from The Capitol.

Bumblebee – FilmFour – 6:45pm

Following the character of the same name from the Transformers franchise, Bumblebee is on the run in 1987 and finds refuge in a junkyard. This is a prequel and spinoff from the blockbuster series.

Independence Day: Resurgence – RTÉ 2 – 9pm

It’s been twenty years since the last alien invasion, but the same species is back to attack earth once again. The movie stars Jeff Goldblum and Liam Hemsworth.

Kingsman Secret Service – E4 – 9pm

With an impending global threat, a secret service recruits a street kid in an attempt to fight back. This is the first installment in the series and stars the likes of Colin Firth and Samuel L. Jackson.

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom – FilmFour – 9pm

This 1984 film is the second in the series and finds archaeologist Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford) in India seeking a precious stone that has been stolen by an evil priest.

Mean Girls – ITV2 – 10:10pm

In honour of October 3rd, Mean Girls is airing on ITV2. Cady Herron (Lindsay Lohan) moves to a new school and soon gets caught up with school politics and their ruling government, The Plastics.
