The weekend is upon us, and these are the best movies to watch on TV tonight to kick it off!

We hope you like Ryan Reynolds, because he’s in TWO of our picks tonight!

Unfortunately, if you do like Double R, both the movies are on around the same time, so you’ve got a tough decision to make…

Deadpool – E4 – 9pm

A wisecracking mercenary (Ryan Reynolds) gets experimented on and becomes immortal but ugly, and sets out to track down the man who ruined his looks.

The Matrix Revolutions – ITV4 – 9pm

The human city of Zion defends itself against the massive invasion of the machines as Neo (Keanu Reeves) fights to end the war at another front while also opposing the rogue Agent Smith (Hugo Weaving).

The Butcher Boy – RTE Two – 9.30pm

The antisocial son (Eamonn Owens) of an alcoholic father (Stephen Rea) and a bipolar mother (Aisling O’Sullivan) grows up in 1960s Ireland.

Safe House – Virgin Media One – 9.30pm

A young CIA agent (Ryan Reynolds) is tasked with looking after a fugitive (Denzel Washington) in a safe house. But when the safe house is attacked, he finds himself on the run with his charge.

Morgan – FilmFour – 11.05pm

A corporate risk-management consultant (Kate Mara) must decide whether or not to terminate an artificially created humanoid being (Anya Taylor-Joy).

The English Patient – RTE One – 11.25pm

At the close of World War II, a young nurse (Juliette Binoche) tends to a badly-burned plane crash victim (Ralph Fiennes). His past is shown in flashbacks, revealing an involvement in a fateful love affair.

The Purge: Election Year – Channel 4 – 12.10am

Former Police Sergeant Barnes (Frank Grillo) becomes head of security for Senator Charlie Roan (Elizabeth Mitchell), a Presidential candidate targeted for death on Purge night due to her vow to eliminate the Purge.

Two sisters (Tina Fey and Amy Poehler) decide to throw one last house party before their parents sell their family home.
