These are the five best movies on TV tonight

Rory Cashin

Some movies to record while you’re ACTUALLY watching The Great British Bake Off tonight…

It is Tuesday, which means GBBO. Let us not pretend that Tuesdays are about literally anything else anymore. But while you’re watching that, you could be recording one of these to watch afterwards.

The Maze Runner – FilmFour – 6.50pm

A group of male teenagers walk up in the middle of a field, surrounded by high metal walls, with no idea of who they are or how they got there. When the first female teenager arrives, and the threats from the other side of the walls begin to sneak in, they make a plan to escape. One of the better YA movies-based-on-YA books that arrived in the wake of Harry Potter and The Hunger Games.

Crocodile Dundee – E4 – 9pm

“That’s not a knife. This is a knife.”

Star Trek – FilmFour – 9pm

The sexy modernised version of the Star Trek series sees Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Simon Pegg, and Karl Urban take on the iconic roles from the USS Enterprise, and they go head-to-head with Eric Bana’s time-travelling Romulan who intends to destroy Earth.

The Naked Gun – Comedy Central – 9pm

Up there with the likes of Airplane in terms of having more zingy one-liners and bonkers sight-gags per minute than just about any other comedy ever made.

The Family – FilmFour – 11.30pm

Robert De Niro and Michelle Pfeiffer star in this comedy-thriller about a mob family moved to France after they rat out their former fellow mobsters, but it isn’t long before they return to the life of crime, all while the vengeful gangsters start to close in on them.
