Back in the 2000s, a spate of movies starring Hollywood’s so-called ‘frat pack’ dominated the comedy genre.
From Anchorman to Knocked Up, 40-Year-Old Virgin to Wedding Crashers, it seems like a week didn’t go by without the likes of Will Ferrell, Steve Carrell, Seth Rogen, Vince Vaughn, Jason Segel or Paul Rudd appearing on the big screen.
In the latter part of the decade Rudd and Segel starred in I Love You Man, a movie widely regarded as the ultimate in bromance, and luckily for us it’s on TV tonight.
The movie tells the tale of Rudd’s character Peter Klaven, a classic nice guy who is engaged to the love of his life. The problem is, while his fiancée Zooey has a large group of friends and a busy social life, she appears to be Peter’s one and only companion.
Enter the free-spirited and often destructive Sidney Fife who strikes up a friendship with the groom-to-be. The pair’s bromance soon becomes a bit too intense leaving Peter’s upcoming nuptials in jeopardy.
There are plenty of laughs along the way and countless quotable lines (slapping da bass) and it’s well worth tuning into if you haven’t seen it or even if you have.
I Love You, Man starts tonight on Comedy Central at 9pm. As Peter would say “see you there or see you on another time.”
