This New Netflix Documentary Could Be The Most Important Thing You’ll Watch In 2018

Consider your January TV plans sorted: Netflix is bringing out a heap of new stuff with one documentary, Rotten, already getting a lot of attention.

“The truth is hard to swallow”

The six-part series will be out on 5th January and takes a long hard look at the global food industry and is brought to us by the team who made Anthony Bourdain Parts Unknown and The Mind of a Chef.

It looks at the problems of the food supply chain and digs deep into the underbelly of supermarket food and restaurants.

A voiceover tells us that “if you eat food, this is an issue you need to worry about”

Rotten gives food the true crime treatment,” Netflix said. “In a world where huge global supply-chains are increasingly intertwined and consolidated, this series starts on your dinner plate… and follows the money to the shocking consequences – intended or not – of regulation, innovation and greed.

“Local farming is fading as profit margins decide what food makes it to our plates… Rotten exposes the fraud, corruption, and the consequences on our health of today’s global food industry. Nobody’s hands are clean.”

Released just in time for your January health kick, this new series will change the way you think about food – and where exactly it comes from.
