The eight-episode show tells the tale of a Victorian adventurer who, despite being believed dead, returns to London in possession of stolen African diamonds. While he looks much the same, he’s in fact a changed man with a newfound thirst for vengeance…

From the creators of Gladiator (Ridley Scott) and Peaky Blinders (Steven Knight), this dark and violent tale promises to be a something special.

Taboo airs on BBC One on Saturday, January 7.
