WATCH: George Ezra’s ‘Shotgun’ As Gaeilge Is Even Catchier Than The Original

James Fenton

You’ve probably been humming Shotgun by George Ezra for about three months now but we bet you’ve never heard a version like this.

Arguably the song of summer 2018, music fans have been trying and mostly failing to replicate the 25-year-old’s baritone singing style but there’s one lad here in Ireland who has gotten in spot on.

Jack Ó Conghaile takes on the difficult task in this Irish version of Ezra’s hit tune along with the TG Lurgan crew who have built quite a reputation for this type of thing.

Instead of the more famous “I’ll be ridin’ shotgun”, the opening line of the chorus in this version is “léim isteach sa ngluaistean”, which any Irish speaker worth their salann will tell you means “jump in the car.”

Have a listen below and let us know what you think.
