Irish TV in the ’80s was a peculiar phenomenon, filled with Gay Byrne, knitted sweaters, forced smiles and overenthusiastic hosts.

This collection of clips gathers together the very best of Christmas with a garnish of ’80s, topped off with a large dollop of Irishness.

Note the ‘Don’t Drink and Drive’ ad which actually says that two drinks are grand.
