We’ve all become partial to a sea swim over the past year or so.
It dusts off the cobwebs, can be a great social activity and was something to keep us entertained over lockdown. It’s also got huge health benefits both mental and physical (as I’m sure you’ve heard the sea swimmer in your life mention), which is why next month has been dubbed “Coldtober” by Helplink Mental Health. Helplink Mental Health are an Irish charity offering free or low cost mental health services to people across the country, and Coldtober is their annual fundraising event. It’s a national, month long sea swimming challenge which aims to raise vital funds for the charity.

Over 20 locations around Ireland will see participants take a dip every day in their local sea swimming area. If you’d like to take part but don’t live near a swimming spot, you can get involved by having a 30 second cold shower each day!
If you’re interested in taking part in the fundraiser, you can register via the Helplink Mental Health WEBSITE. Registration packs include sea swimming essentials like a cosy beanie and tea to warm you up after your dip. A great way to get involved with a charity, while benefiting from a daily cold dip yourself!
