Rory Cashin

Met Éireann warn of potential flooding in parts of the country tonight.

As if today didn’t already bring enough bad news, here comes a little bit more.

Met Éireann have issued a status yellow rain warning to five counties, which is in place from 3pm today (Tuesday, December 22) until 9am on Wednesday morning.

The warning has been issued to Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary, and Waterford, with the description of what to expect as follows:

“Heavy rain at times may cause some localised flooding. Rainfall totals generally around 30-40mm, higher in mountainous areas.”

Beyond that, temperatures are expected to drop to as low as -2 on Wednesday night, and just as low on Christmas Eve.

For Christmas Day, it is expected to be slightly milder, slightly cloudier, with some bands of rain throughout the day.

Saturday and Sunday is currently expecting more heavy rain during the day, and again dropping to around -2 overnight.
