People in Dublin, Kildare, Wicklow and parts of Meath will have their water turned off between midnight and 5 am, Irish Water has confirmed.
Irish Water has said it is working with councils to determine how long the water restrictions can remain in place.
The company has also said that while daytime restrictions are a possibility, there are no plans to enforce them yet.
The entire country is currently under a hosepipe ban while drought conditions persist.
