PSA if you have a trip to Dubrovnik planned.

According to reports, tourists will not be allowed to bring suitcases with wheels on them through Old Town of Dubrovnik, which is a huge tourist destination in Croatia.

The mayor of Dubrovnik has introduced the measure to combat the noise that this type of suitcase makes when being pulled along cobbled streets in the historic city, according to The Daily Express.

Locals have been complaining about the sounds coming from tourist’s luggage as they are being woken up in the middle of the night due to the clatter.

According to Croatian publication, Jutarnji List, tourists will be required to carry their luggage through the streets if it has wheels.

From November, the city is planning to bring in a system to allow leave their luggage before entering the old town.

They will need to pay a fee to have their luggage delivered to their accommodation, with the move being described by the mayor as “just the beginning”.

Anyone with a backpack or rucksack will not be affected as this new move only applies to suitcases with wheels.

On top of this, tourists who are visiting Old Town Dubrovnik are also urged by the Dubrovnik Tourism Board not to walk pets without a leash, to avoid climbing on monuments and to not walk the city without a shirt on as a way of showing they “respect the city.”
