Originally in place for Donegal, Galway and Mayo, forecasters have since extended the Status Yellow weather warning to cover Sligo as well.
Met Éireann has updated a Status Yellow wind warning to cover four Irish counties this morning, predicting that gusts of 110km/h or higher are possible along coastal areas.
In place for counties Donegal, Galway, Mayo and Sligo, the official Met Éireann warning reads:
“Southwesterly winds will reach mean speeds of 50 to 65km/h and gusts of 90 to 110km/h, possibly higher in exposed coastal fringes. Where winds are onshore there is a risk of coastal flooding around high tide.”
Issued at 9:23am this morning, the warning will take effect from 9pm this evening – remaining in place until 8am tomorrow morning.
Meanwhile, forecasters also issued two other marine warnings early this morning. Both in place as of 5am, one advises against strong gale force winds while the other is a small craft warning. You can keep up to date with all Met Éireann weather reports here.
