IRISH MADE: We’re All About These Minimal And Chic Watches And Wallets

Éadaoin Fitzmaurice

We have some brilliant brands in Ireland right now.

There’s so many creative people turning their passion into a career and making something unique from it. Lately I’ve been tracking down these people and companies and adding bits to my wardrobe.

It’s time to celebrate Irish designers and creatives and shine a light on their hard work. After all, isn’t there something special about adding pieces that someone from your home country has made to your everyday life?

Between food, fashion, craft and design – the Irish are killin’ it right now.

This week I pimped out my watch game.

Watch and Wallets is an Irish company that make… Well, you’ve guessed it.

It’s simple but effective. If you want a new wallet or watch, it’s the perfect match.

W&W came about when one of the founders, Sean, found his grandfathers pocket watch that he had during WWII. The watch was of the highest quality and was still working. This timeless piece inspired him to create more like it.

The face of this pocket watch was the inspiration for the W&W Classis collection. Most of the watches are designed with a 30’s flare to them with a modern twist, which gives them their unique appearance.

The watches are made from top quality materials and the straps are interchangeable, which is super handy.

I got The Heritage with a gold mesh strap. When I first got it I thought I would have to take it to the jewellers because the strap was huge on my tiny wrist. Thankfully, they’re adjustable so I could fix it straight away and wear it immediately.

The watches movement uses a Japanese Miyota, which you’ll find in most luxury and high end watches.

I like my watches to be quite androgynous, so this style was definitely up my street. My usual watch has a brown leather strap and white face so to have the opposite means I can change them based on outfits and occasions, which I love. I’m not really someone who wears bangles or bracelets, especially on my left arm.

The branding is slick – minimalistic and chic.

The wallets follow suit – classic design, simple, functional.

You can tell these guys love watches and didn’t skimp on design or functionality. My watch has a good bit of weight to it but not so much that it’s a pain to wear.

One thing I love about adding to my jewellery collection is that it’s timeless. You’ll have these pieces forever if you wanted to. Things like this don’t go out of fashion.

It’s a great gift for someone or even a nice treat for yourself. A watch is something you wear every single day so it’s worth investing in something that will last.
