It’s November 2001, the first Harry Potter movie has just been released and Ireland have secured qualification for the 2002 World Cup. Oh, and the nation is falling in love with the original Derry Girl, AKA Nadine Coyle.
Granted, the singer’s first brush with fame revolved around history’s most famous passport debacle but it’s fair to say we’ve all found it in our hearts to forgive her. If you’re somehow not familiar with the most memorable storyline from the Irish version of Popstars, then you can refresh your memory here.
Now all these years later, and with Nadine having conquered the pop world with Girls Aloud, she’s returning to TV as part of the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here 2019 line-up.
According to reports, the 34-year-old (it’s now clear that she was born in 1985), will be joining some fairly big names like Caitlyn Jenner, Ian Wright and Andrew Whyment in the jungle but it seems like the public only has eyes for one contestant.
Why? Well, Nadine’s down-to-earth charm was evident in a recent episode of Livin’ With Lucy and her pronunciation of certain words has turned her into prime meme material, that’s why.
Since hearing the news of Nadine’s participation in the Virgin Media reality show, people have been quick to share their excitement online…
I don’t want to let myself believe it until I’ve seen her walking through Brisbane airport, but in just over a week we could have Nadine Coyle every night on our TVs for three whole weeks #imaceleb

So it’s fair to say Nadine’s selection is a popular one then. You can see every single thing she gets up to when I’m A Celeb starts on Sunday November 17 at 2100 ‘oy-ers’.
