A boil water notice has been issued for Cork which could affect as many as 9,500 people.
Irish Water have advised Corkonians whose water is supplied by the Whitegate Public Water Supply to boil their water before use until further notice.
The boil water notice came into effect following a recent drinking water quality test and the problem is believed to have stemmed from the filtration process at the plant.
While the issue is dealt with, residents have been advised to boil all water that is being consumed in any capacity or used to brush teeth.
