Cork winter festival announce first feature artist

Sarah Finnan

The second annual Quiet Lights will hit up Cork city this November.

Darker evenings don’t have to mean boring and organisers aim to brighten things up a bit, in every sense of the word.

Hoping to shine a light (how punny) on the new wave of Irish and international folk, trad and experimental talent, it’s a small-scale festival with big heart.

Previously announced names on the line-up include Rozi Plain, Ye Vagabonds and Cormac Begley to name but a few. And now filmmaker and director Myles O’Reilly has been added to the mix too.

An accomplished videographer he has over 100 music video promos and 20+ documentaries under his belt.

Working with some of the best Irish talent (the likes of Glen Hansard, The Scrip, James Vincent McMorrow, Sinead O’Connor, Imelda May…the list goes on) and international superstars such as Janelle Monae, he’s definitely one to watch.

Officially launching the weekend, he’ll host the public premiere of his 25-minute piece Tenore Cuncordu Orosei in collaboration with Ernst Reijseger at the Kino on November 21st.

More of Myles’ work will feature over the weekend and he’ll appear at a number of panel discussions as well.

Keep up to date with the full schedule of events here.
