The dry weather recently has meant that gorse and forest fires have been rampant all over the country, with the devastating effects clearly seen in Cork yesterday afternoon.
Firefighters from Bantry Fire Brigade were called to a forest fire that had spread over hundreds of acres in the Kealkil area of west Cork.
Can you imagine facing down that blaze? Truly terrifying.

Bantry Fire Station Commander Ian Vickery told Breaking News that they did not yet know the cause of the fire and that it was a “major blaze”.
“It spread to both sides of the road. In the video we shot you are only seeing a small portion of the fire, it was also behind the person recording the clip” he added.
It took firefighters several hours to get the fire under control.
