Westlife confirms new date for cancelled gig this August

Westlife have announced new dates for their upcoming tour, forced to reschedule as Covid-19 restrictions are extended.

It was previously unclear whether the band’s Cork gig would go ahead, however, Westlife have since announced rescheduled dates for all upcoming concerts – confirming that existing tickets will still be valid.

This comes in the wake of a government announcement made yesterday that put a ban on all mass gatherings until the end of August at the earliest. Government officials remain hopeful that events attracting more than 5,000 people will be able to proceed on a limited basis from September.

A statement shared online by the band reads:

“To all our Irish fans – following the Irish government’s announcement last night (extending the Irish ban on mass gatherings until 31st August), the shows at Cork Páirc Uí Chaoimh have been postponed to 27th and 28th August 2021 with all tickets valid for new dates and no ticket exchange required.”

They finished out the message with a heartfelt plea asking everyone to stay at home.

“In the meantime, we ask everyone to stay home, stay safe and keep playing your part in fighting the spread of this virus.”
