Cork City Council Has Announced A Six-Week Free Parking Initiative

James Fenton

Can’t beat that, can you?

If you’re planning to head into Cork City Centre for a bit of shopping over the next while, you’re free to hop in the car without worrying about forking out a fortune on parking. That is if you pick the right times, of course.

This afternoon, Cork City Council has announced that it is launching a free parking initiative starting today (October 8). The scheme is set to run for six weeks and will include free parking at Paul Street Car Park and North Main Street Car Park from Mondays to Thursdays from 10am to 12 noon. This is only applicable if you enter from 10am.

As well as that, there will be free late-night parking on Thursdays and Fridays from 6.30pm until midnight at Paul Street and from 6.30pm until 9.30pm at North Main Street. Again, this is only applicable if you enter from 6.30pm.

If you prefer heading out and about on weekends, you can avail of free parking at Black Ash Park & Ride from 7am until 8.30pm every Saturday from October 12. There’s bound to be something there to suit any motorist as the winter draws in. More information about the scheme can be found here.
